I first discovered Sistering when I was invited to be a part of a blogger collaboration. I was delighted to hear about the great work Sistering does with homeless, low-income and marginalized women, offering programs which provide support and enable these women to take greater control over their lives.
Working with Sistering’s textile enterprise Spun Studio, six bloggers designed a collection of hand sewn and woven textiles. It was exciting to create our “own” goods – but also amazing to hear how the collaboration impacted the women, allowing them to earn income and giving them a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
As a conference that serves primarily women that blog about design and lifestyle, it seemed fitting to partner with an organization that focuses on helping women to develop and create better lives. We are happy to announce that Sistering will be participating with an exhibit at BlogPodium.
All of the blogger items created for the Spun Goods collection will be replicated and will be available for silent auction with 100% of proceeds going back to Sistering. Additionally, new and never-before-seen ceramic items designed by bloggers Jordana Garbati of White Cabana and Christine Dovey of Bijou and Boheme and created by Sistering’s ceramics enterprise, Inspirations Studio, will also be available for auction.
But we thought we’d extend the fun just a little bit more… read on for your chance to design a textile or ceramic product that will be produced by the women of Sistering.
