If you joined us on the #BlogPodiumChat, you’ll know that the question of “what to wear to BlogPodium” came up more than once! So I’ve enlisted Lindsey Gerrish from Recreated to give us some tips on how to look and feel your best in a room full of 250 other fashionable bloggers.
OK, ladies (and gents) – I’m no fashion expert but as a veteran of Blogpodium, I have concluded that there are a few simple fashion guidelines that one should try to follow at these types of event:
1) Don’t wear back-breaking heels. Sure, you will be sitting down for part of the day but there also will be a lot of standing and mingling, so choose your shoes accordingly. (I may or may not follow my own rule here, I’m a glutton for punishment when it comes to footwear).
2) Carry something bigger than a clutch. You are going to be getting lots of stuff that day – cards, pamphlets, swag. You’ll need something to tote it all in.
3) Wear something you feel comfortable and “yourself” in. I’m not saying bring out the sweatpants (although that IS what I feel most comfortable in…), nor am I saying that it’s a bad idea to push your fashion boundaries. But if you wear something that isn’t quite “you” for the purposes of pushing those boundaries, you will feel awkward in it and that is the impression you will give off.
4) Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize The outfit I put together has a good balance between comfort (chambray shirt) and dressed up (shiny pants and accessories). The heels are fun yet not insanely high and the elongated tote (which I hear is a new bag trend this fall) is great for stylishly stashing all your Blogpodium goodies! You can find all the items here on my Polyvore page.
