The best way to create amazing images with iPhone apps is to actually take a great picture with your iPhone. A photography teacher once told me “you can’t turn crap into diamonds”. If the image you capture with your phone is just not that great to begin with, then no amount of apps and filters will make it better. True, adding a filter might make it look different or funky but generally all you are doing is dressing up an image that is not really good anyway.
If you are using an iPhone for 4 or 5 then your camera is pretty good. I recently made the switch from probably the last working 3GS in the world to a 5 and my head is still reeling. But even with my sparkly new iPhone 5 there are a few great Apps that I feel make the images that much better. Here are a few of them.
Camera + $1.99
I use this app the majority of the time to take my pictures. I like the way you can take many shots at once and then choose only the ones you like to save to your camera roll while easily deleting the ones you don’t like. Probably my favourite feature of this app is that you can select a focus point with one finger and a different spot to use to meter for your exposure. It also has a timer option incase you want to jump in the shot.
The next apps are for editing and sharing your pictures. There are loads of options for filters out there but here are the 3 that I use the most. They are all great and do similar things as far as basic editing of exposure, contrast, saturations, etc but have different filters to help you personalize your look.
Lots of great adjustable filters to get just the look you like.
Loads of great filters. Allows you to easily see what your pictures will look like with its handy previews. You can also easily layer filters and save your custom recipes for future use.
